So on my computer when I hit the shift key and the number "4," up pops a dollar symbol like this: $. If I were to purchase a computer in the UK, would it have a "pound" symbol on the keyboard above the 4?

And what about the euro? (Pardon my ignorance, but I don't even know if it has a symbol.)

Moreover, is there any way I can make the pound symbol with my computer?

Yes, use the character map...

Click START> All Programs> Accessories> System Tools> Character Map

Find the character you need and take note of the Keystroke code in the lower right portion of the window (example: £ = Keystroke ALT + 0163). Go back to your word processor (or whatever) and hold the ALT key down while typing zero then one then six then three on the 'NUMBER KEYPAD' (not the numbers at the top of the keyboard) then release the ALT key and the "£" will appear.

If there's no keystroke code, you'll have to click the character, then press the SELECT button and COPY it. It can be pasted where needed.

ALT+0169= ©
ALT+0162= ¢

I'm only guessing, but I'd think that they have exactly the same keyboards as the US. As far as making a £ symbol when you need one, use the Character Map utility (Windows XP):

START > ALL PROGRAMS > ACCESSORIES > SYSTEM TOOLS > CHARACTER MAP

As far as the Euro goes, it has a symbol € and it also is available in Character Map.
