I'm connecting my external hard drive(usb2.0) to my computer(1394a/b?), which is 7 years old. The external HD's port looks like this http://images10.newegg.com/NeweggImage/productimage/22-136-078-03.jpg
only other port i have is USB 1.1 (usb 2.0 to usb 1.1) and that is too slow for huge transfers.

I just upgraded an old computer i had lying around to windows xp, more ram and hardrive, etc. The back of the computer has two USB 1.0 ports, and everything i need to run with them is usb 2.0. Are there any items out there I can plug into the port to convert everything to 2.0? Like at one end a 1.0 drive, leading to a 2.0 on the other?

Links would be much appreciated :)

My friend gave me a vacation DVD that she made herself during her trip overseas. Unfortunately I have a CDRW and unable to watch the DVD clips. Is there a way I can watch these? I don't have a DVD player at home. Is there any software that can enable me to watch without a DVD player.

I'm wanting to buy a new graphics card, and replace the X300/x550 that's in my computer now. But, I only have a 300W PSU, I was wondering, if I could buy an 8800 GTS and if it would work with a 300W PSU? Can anyone help me or tell me what graphics card that will allow me to run pretty much all high settings with no lag, and pretty pretty steady frames on a 300W PSU?

I currently have a Compaq presario SR1214NX and it came with a 512 stick of RAM (PC 3200) If i buy a 1 GB stick is it possible to install it in the slot next to it or does the computer require to have side by side matching RAM (ex: two 512 sticks or two GB sticks) I'm looking for a crucial RAM stick. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

I have an Acer T180 Aspire and i beleive a ATX motherboard
The dimensions of the BFG Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS OC are 220x100x33 mm (the last figure is the maximum thickness of a video card).

I wonder if this Obese Graphic card could fit on my motherboard?

I got Halo 2 for PC and I apparently need a better graphics card. I would like to bump up my Windows Experience index to at least 4.0. I prefer an Nvidia or an ATI, but I don't know much about video cards, so any advice would help. Thanks.

My mobo is Crossfire capable, but I do not like ATI GPUs for some reason. I have two NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT 512MB PCIe GPUs. I know there is some connector that, umm, connects the two together. I can't find it anywhere, but I also don't know what it is called. lol. I have not opened any of them yet, to keep the static away, because everything I need for my Mod computer I have yet to buy. Does the connector come in the box or is it after market?

Thanks

Current Setup:
P4 3.2GHZ
2 GB Ram DDR2 533MHZ
GeForce 7600GS Graphics card (PCI-E)
Windows XP (Will likely upgrade to VISTA in 6-8 months)

I've been trying to decide if i should look at the 7900 Series, or go into the Series 8 cards 8800GTS or the 8600GT.
I realize i might need to upgrade my power supply if i try to fit a series 8 card in.

One concern i have is, will my processor not being duo core lead to a major bottleneck, or will i still see a benefit from the higher end cards.

Any insight or other considerations i should be thinking about are also appreciated.
Thanks,

I have the great Asus P5K3 Deluxe WiFi-AP Motherboard - Intel P35 Chipset, Socket 775, Crossfire Capability, PCI express, DDR3 @ 1333 MHz out of box, Dual Channel Supported. It is "fututre proof" as it will support todays Intel processors as well as the new 45nm when they release. Its got everything a gamer could ask for. My questions is that the new DDR3 SDRAM is crazy expensive even for only 1 gig. It costs almost as much as the mobo!! It can hold up to 8 gigs of SDRAM DDR3 and overclock to 2032+MHz and still be stable. Crazy huh? If you don't believe me just look it up. All RAM is 240 PIN. Will DDR2 SDRAM 240 PIN work in in the new DDR3 RAM slots?

And how many RAM DIMM's do you need to support dual channel. I'm thinking two, hince the name "Dual Channel". Do you need certain types of RAM. and can you have two sets of Dual Channel?

Oh and if you are looking for a really good, stable, and cool to the touch all the time mobo, this is a number 1, hands down, must have!

My computer is a sony VGC-RC110g. I installed 3GB of RAM, plus a Geforce 8800 GTS 640MB graphics card and also a 700 W power supply with 40 amps on a +12Volt

Now i get this screen that says i need to insert boot disk, is it because my BIOS is not updated to support the graphics card just yet? where can i get this boot disk, and does it have to be a floppy?

i dont think it has anything to do with the power supply or the RAM.

please help! i have attached the specs to the original computer

Also, my HDTV doesnt seem to recognise the new graphics card on the usual PC-DVI channel. I need to switch to PC-VGA on my HDTV to get a screen. btw, i have 2 DVI port on my graphics card now, does it have anything to do with it??? thanks
