I am confuse with USB ports. Can I just convert the USB 1.0 TO 2.0 by simply upgrading the USb driver?

No. The hardware has to support USB 2.0.

You can buy PCI cards that add USB 2.0 ports to a computer.

No. There is a hardware difference between the two. If you have a desktop, you can purchase a USB 2.0 card to put into one of the card slots for $30-40. If it is a laptop, they make USB 2.0 cards that fit into the PC card slot on most laptops.

But you can not convert from 1.1 to 2.0 with software.

No USB-2 is more powerful and requires a Power Adapter externally and is directly tied to the Motherboard Internally.
