I'm wanting to buy a new graphics card, and replace the X300/x550 that's in my computer now. But, I only have a 300W PSU, I was wondering, if I could buy an 8800 GTS and if it would work with a 300W PSU? Can anyone help me or tell me what graphics card that will allow me to run pretty much all high settings with no lag, and pretty pretty steady frames on a 300W PSU?

i would upgrade to a 500watt supply with that card ... i actually wouldnt try to run any decent graphics card on a 300 watt supply especially if its a generic supply .. they way overrate those things .. if its generic its probably more like 150 true watts ..

The 8800GTS draws up to 9 amps on the +12V rail. NO 300W power supply could run it. 300W PSU would even have a problem running the less powerful 8600GT.

Do not let your upgrade option be restricted by your power supply. There are good but cheap, powerful PSUs. Sample here:

I have satisfactory experience on 2 HEC 480 watters and a HEC 550 watter.

No it wont. Sometimes a video card upgrade includes a bigger power supply. You need at least a 400 watt power supply with 26amps on the +12V rail to run a 320MB 8800GTS. Try something like this:
http://www.buy.com/prod/corsair-520w-sli-certified-modular-atx-power-supply/q/loc/101/203270716.html
It has 3 +12V rails with 18amps each. run one 4 pin plug from 2 different rails into the splitter for the 6 pin connector on the card.

NO.....
my 8600gt need minimum 300watt, if you want to use 8800gts get at least 450 watt pure power psu (ofcourse, larger is better).

i suggest you to get better psu first before upgrade your grpahic card
