My friend gave me a vacation DVD that she made herself during her trip overseas. Unfortunately I have a CDRW and unable to watch the DVD clips. Is there a way I can watch these? I don't have a DVD player at home. Is there any software that can enable me to watch without a DVD player.

No, no, and no. You need a DVD drive to read DVD disc, there's no way around it.

Actually, there IS a way for you to watch the video on your computer, without you having to buy and install a DVD-ROM or DVD-R/W drive. It's kind of a long and complicated process, though, at least if you aren't familiar with computers. Here's how, in case you're interested:

1.) Have your friend edit the video into 650-700 MB chunks.
2.) Have your friend burn each portion onto a CD, and finalize it.
3.) Download and install this codec pack, which contains the MPEG-2 codecs, which are required to view DVD's on a computer: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Stinky_MPEG_2_Codec.htm
4.) Once you receive the CD's, you'll have to transfer the video from your CD-R/W drive to your hard drive.
5.) Once you've transferred all of the data, simply click on them, and Windows Media Player will play them.

BTW, why don't you own a DVD player? Were you aware that stand-alone units (for use with your television) can be had for as little as $25 now? And most retail stores, at least in the U.S., carry pretty nice ones for ~$50.
