Hey, had the same problem when I bought a P3 550 MHZ for my niece, when i tried to install ME, it's good but XP won't install. So I tried to replace the RAM chips with PC100 (with XP you need 256 MB or higher). With PC133, it will not install properly. That did it for my PC.

It sounds as though the system is not seeing your keyboard input. Is it a standard kbd, not one that needs a driver?.

Do the kbd LEDS flash during power up?

If you go into bios setup, does the kbd work?

Is the kbd connected directly into the system, not via a sharing unit (KDM) or a USB/PS2 adapter.

Try using caps lock and num lock to see if the LEDS come on/off when setup is waiting for an input.

Try a different basic std kbd.

Do not install regular XP. It needs 512 MB to 1 GB RAM and occupies upto 1.7 GB hard disk. Download Tiny XP from torrent sites. It works in 64 MB ram ad takes about 300 MB hard disk space. (Don't tell anyone. It is a secret)

You might need more video memory. I had similar problems when building my first system. I'd go with more RAM memory too. Check out http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314865 for information on XP minimum system requirements.

It sounds like hard drive problem, format the hard drive clean then install xp,
Note: if xp is installed it will run slow on this computer.
