This is the first time that I have ever installed a PCI card into my computer. I am going to install a PCI firewire card made by Syba. I have a Dell Dimension E510 with Windows XP Media Center. Can anyone give me some advice on how best to go about it or what to do or avoid so that I do not run into any problems?

Does too many extention cords pose a problem? Like I have two computer workstations next to each other, and each have their own extention cord, with the multiplugs, and most of them are usually all filled, will this cause an electric problem or some sort, or even an explosion? or am i just being very paranoid. lol

I have Windows XP Home Edition Ver. 2002, Service Pack 2
AMD Athlon Xp 2800+; 2.09 GHz, 1 GB of RAM;;

This is an update to my previous question with my system specs. I'm going to update my video card again but I need to know how much my computer can take though. If I need more RAM I'm probably going to buy more too.

Was messing round with my CPU and took it out. Dell e310 also did it with my emachines t4060. Is the thermal paste toxic and can get absorbed into the skin? I washed my hands afterwards. And what about in some GPU coolers on video cards. took heatsink off of a GFX 5200 and got the thermal paste on my hand.

Currently have a Gateway GT5098E Media Center, and crucial.com claims my motherboard can work with DDR 4000 memory. Found a deal on DDR2 4200 Memory, but Im not sure of it's backward compatibility and dont want to waste the money if it's not going to even work. If someone can help me out it's appreciated. Please help!

I have always used my usb flash drive at work without any problems. I recently went to a conference where I was given a multi card reader (by a friend). I plugged the new device into my machine at work and now that's the only device it can read.

When I plug my usb flash drive in, it lights up and windows makes the sound that a device has been attached - but it doesn't show up in my drive list. The flash drive works fine in other computers.

The USB ports I have are USB 2.0 and I'm assuming that the card reader is only USB 1.1 - which is what's caused the problem.

Does anyone know how I can fix this?

What is a good external hard drive that could could be plug in to my router? I want to hook it up to my router so ut will be connected to my network.(A must) I don't want to spend more than 150.00 for one. What product would you recomend? I might be able to spend more, but I want to stay with in my budget. Depending on quality and size I might spend more.

i have Compaq C563TU laptop and want to connect it to my TV so that I could use the TV as a display unit (monitor). The laptop has a 7 pin S-Video port so i bought a 7 pin S-Video converter and plugged it to the port.. But when I connected the video (RCA) jack to the TV and the other end to the converter and switched the TV to Video input there was no display!! sad.gif

What do I do? Did I miss anything??

My MAJOR problem is when I play games I get thrown off the game back to the icon page. My comp also stops while I'm typing and I have to start from where it stopped at.(it's stopped twice so far) I know I need a new video card but have no idea what to get. My comp is a dell approx 2yrs old and the current card is:intel(r) 82845g/gl/ge/pe/gv graphics controller. I can spend up to a couple C's but (of course) want to spend as little as possible. Can someone please help me?
