the usb is probally shot. maybe you should install the driver again

USB keeps a table of devices that have been plugged into it. Sometimes that information gets corrupted and the USB will stop working. Trying the following...
Click on Start and go into the Control Panel
Click the System Icon
Select the Hardware tab
Click on the Device Manager button
In the listing of installed devices, look for the "USB" section
Click the little + in front of the USB section to expand it to show all the USB devices.
Right click on each device, and uninstall them
(This will clear the table that stored the USB information)
Reboot the computer and it should redetect the USB ports (and any attached devices) and reinstall them
Hopefully after that they will work again...
