I believe there is no DDR PC-1300, lowest is DDR PC-1600 or DDR200.
What you probably have is PC-133 sdram w/ 168 pins and 2 notches. DDR (184pins) and DDR2 (240pins) would not be compatible. Also, some old PCs limit the size of sdram to 256mb per slot on the board. Some have 2x256mb or 3x256mb limit.
Better search out your motherboard's specs before buying a RAM stick to be sure you are buying the right one.

A simple answer to your question is yes, you have to use a very specific type of RAM. In your case, you must use DDR SDRAM (as opposed to RDRAM or DDR2 or DDR3). You must also consider voltage and CAS latencies. Suffice it to say, choosing the right RAM can be a very difficult choice.
Luckily, there is a nifty tool to figure out what RAM to get. It is called CPU-Z and can be found at:
http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php
Under the "Memory" tab you will find a wealth of information. You should worry about "type" and "CAS# Latency." You need to get RAM that is the same type - in your case DDR - and CL (short for CAS latency).

Most computer users have been trained that if you want more speed for your computer, then add more memory. Well, this is true, in certain circumstances. But for most of the times, it really is just bad files in your registry files. Corrupted or missing registry files can make your computer too slow.
The registry is a main part of your computer's Operating System. With time, as you use Windows and install and uninstall programs, your registry will get congested and full of errors. So your computer could slow down. So, if you can clean it up this problem can be solved.Sometimes you can speed computer up by 300%. To clean up registry,You can download a software called regsitry cleaner---Clean registry, remnant, corrupt files and temp files,history,cookies,etc.. This site:

lists top 5 registry cleaner, you can download and scan for free.
Good luck!

No, you cannot add any type of ram to your computer. You need to identify what type of ram you have, in this case if you have pc100 or pc1300, you need to find that specific type of ram and add it to an available slot.
Usually reading the user manual will give this information easily.
Dont get fooled into buying expensive ram only to have it not work.
Hope this helps.

You need to match the type, and the limit on your machine may be low.You can add another stick alongside the existing one. add 512, if it works you are much better off, if you try a 1G and the machine does not recognise it you can have real problems getting your money back.
