external PCI setups seem to run around $1000. (For one example see:

I did not see one for USB. It would be extremely slow so is not a 'recommended' solution.

It would be a lot cheaper and more efficient to just buy a new motherboard.

never heard of one... I'm not sure why you would need one now days. You can get add-on Soundcards, TV tuners, midi boxes, anything you could think of that connect to USB ports. PCI is being phased out to be replaced by PCIx.

You may want to verify you have USB 2.0 ports and not USB 1.0 ports as the old 1.0s are so slow they are limiting in what they can do.

Most likely you don't need a PCI slot.

Not possible. USB is much slower than PCI, so it simply wouldn't work. However, For most PCI devices there is a USB device that will serve the same purpose.

PCI to USB adapter...yes why not. I wonder how come you don't have PCI slots...at least one even its mini tower.
it will be working, but PCI will be working slwoer than USB

NOT possible. You may have to give up the least important occupied PCI slot if you really want to move on.
