i cant get the sound to work on my Dell Latitide d600. last weekend i was listening to music and then the next day, the sound wouldnt work at all. even with headphones it still wont work. I've even tried doing a system restore and i cant get it to work.

I have a year old HP pavilion desktop computer that has had no problems till now. I restarted it and it would not load .. saying "disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter" You hit enter it doesn't do anything. Also, the screen is now shaking (since this problem started) It even shakes in the BIOS settings. I have swapped several things to see if each were the cause: the monitor, power supply, and hard drive. It is definitely not any of these things. When I pop in the recovery cd it says 'no hard drive found. Pc recovery can not be continued. Press any key to continue" Now the monitor almost seems to be getting worse as it will dim out and almost get a rainbow effect on it before it brightens back up.. continuously shaking. Sometimes when restarting and attempting to power the computer on.. the monitor wont even come on and the computer never quiets down. I can tell right away that it wont power and sometimes takes several restarts before it will.

I'm trying to install software to use my scanner, but I can't because I'm getting a screen shot telling me it doesn't recognize my OS system. The scanner is pre-MS vista. Any one know of a work around?

I have a problem with windows media player!!When I see a movie all the colours are dark!!Ι barely recognise the persons.I recently changed my effect card.Ι tried to fix it with the screen's buttons(the brightness bar is full) but it is still dark(only at the windows media)!!What's happening??Can anyone help me??

hi i have a xfx nvdia 7950 graphics card and on high end graphics game the screen frame rate messes up wich causes like a ripples on the screen which im led to believe is called vertical sync, tearing i have the lastest drivers and tryed loads of old drivers and have messed about with nvdia control panel and turned off v sync turned it on left it to used the 3d application option and still get this annoying frame rate jerky ripples on screen is it something to do with microsoft, nvdia or direct x or is it my graphics card please can someone help me as im getting very annoyed with this as all games run smothly on the highest settings?

i could probably stretch to £400 if i had to but i'd rather not. ideally i'd like to be able to watch dvd's on it, and a 25GB plus hard drive would be nice too! not asking for much...

I have just bought new memory for my computer (sdram pc133) for my computer.

According to crucial.com i could make my memory up to 1.5GB, so I have bought 3 new 512MB memorys for my computer, all seemed well untill I went onto a bingo site (sunbingo and galabingo) and everytime i enterd the chat part my comp crashed.

I put my old memory back in 1GB (512 + 256 + 256) and it worked fine again????

Can anybody PLEASE help, why does the extra memory seem to not work on a "chat" part of a site??

I have a homebuilt system and I'm trying to do a fresh install of Windows XP with Service Pack 2 because I caused the prior install to freak out when I upgraded my processor, motherboard and video card all at once. I was stuck in an infinite loop during the Windows install and suspected that my non dual channel memory was burned out so I bought two 1 GB sticks of DDR400 dual channel (crucial). Now when I try to resume setup I get the above error and it continues to reboot continuously with the same result.

My prior build was an Asus K8U-X (socket 754) w/AMD 64 3200+ and Radeon 9800 Pro AGP with 768 MB DDR400 single channel memory.

My current build is an Asus A8S-X (socket 939) w/AMD 64 4000+ and ATI x1650 PCI-e graphics card with 2 GB of DDR4-- dual channel memory. The HDD in both is an 80 GB IDE.

I bought a new laptop 5 weeks ago..it was the last one in the shop and on display, I never buy display items, but did on this occasion, my problem is, after a week, the speakers were crackling...I got it all boxed up thought I better try it again, it seemed ok !!!! Then the battery was running down after 1hr and 15mins, not even using the laptop ( is that just me ? I thought they lasted about 2-3 hours ?) and the final straw was the mains lead to plug into the laptop was faulty, and I pretty much have to hold it in to charge it up...how are my rights regarding asking for a new laptop or getting a refund ???? If these problem are specific to this model..i'll upgrade its a HP Pavillion Entertainment PC DV 6000

Any advice would be appreciated.

I have highspeed on my desk top and laptop and they work fine I don't think its the computers. I just cant seem to go wireless what am I doing wrong?When I turn my laptop on the green light on the card starts to blink but when I try to connect to the internet wirelessly it says serching for website and nothing never comes up. I am after a 8GB or 16GB USB pen drive. I have many smaller ones of all shapes and sizes. I remembered last year I came across one which had a dragon painted on the side of the pen drive, and It looked very nice! It has now got me thinking to find a 'Pretty' looking pen dirve....if that exists at all!! I appreciate your time for answering this strange request! :-)
