The reason why I ask is because my laptop overheats dramtically and it has only been two weeks since I bought it. I know they get hot at the bottom, but mine gets extremely hot that it scortched my "fellowes" stand (a device I use to set my laptop on to eliviate it from getting too hot) the other day and now Im scared to use it because it might start a fire or cause me some sort of 3rd degree burn or something.
Is it normal for the XPS's M1710to get that hot on the bottom? Im confused as to how warm or hot the bottom part of the laptop should get. Does anyone have any advice for me on this matter?

I use my laptop alot and i keep it on my lap when I am sitting- up to several hours. My concerns are- it gets hot pretty quickly. The heat doesent bother me when I am using it- but Im concerned as far as long term affects to my uterus and ovaries. Has anyone heard of a study on whether the heat is dangerous?

Is there a way to hook up a DVD Player to my computer monitor? Or, is there software I can buy/download that will allow my computer to play DVDs? My computer only has a CD-Rom drive.

I was using Acronis Disk Direstor to resize a partition, which I have done many times before. Just today, when I tried to resize my D drive, I got an error message saying "Cannot resize partition with bad blocks...(and something about restart the computer)". What exactly is a bad block? Is it permanent physical damage on the HD? Should I be worried? Is there a way to fix it?

i only payed 10 dollars and am wondering if it is worth using. i notice on the cover it has some rather generic and crappy labels. can you make your own? can i put a picture of my choice on it? i hate to use up all the ink on my printer and find out i spent 10 dollars for junk and ended up having to buy a 35 dollar ink cartridge.

So I just won a TI-89 calculator in an EBAY auction but it did not come with a USB cable to connect it to the computer. I want to download programs and such but on the TI webisght, I do not see them offering a USB cable I can use; they have USB cables for the TI 89 Titanium Addition but not the regular TI 89 which I have. Does anyone know where I can get the USB cable I need? Thanks. Please note, I need a USB cord you are sure will work with the regular TI-89, I do not have any special addition of the calculator.

I went to froogle.com and typed in what I needed and I am coming up with stuff like remanufactured and bulk ink...I am just hesitant to buy something I won't know how to use, and is the remanufactured ink quality bad?

Recently while in the moddle of just surfing the internet on my laptop, it would just somehow turn off on its own. Then after about a few weeks of that happening, after having the computer on for like 5min., a blue screen would come up and says something like, "*** STOP: 0x0000008E (0xc0000005, 0xF6DFE9, 0xF5B96A20, 0x00000000)"
and
"*** system3d:lzx32.sys - Adress F6D6D5E9 base at F6d6B000..."
and also
"Beginning dump of physical memory

And I tried installing Windows XP Professional on my hard drive so I could remove everything on the notebook, but in the middle of the installation, it will just turn off on its own.

What should I do?

I have wondered this for a while, and now I really need to find this out. I have 4 Usb ports on my PC, two of which are in the back, the other two in the front. I am pretty sure that the front two are disabled. Any device I plug into either of the front ports gets no response at all from the device nor the PC. I looked at device manager, and I look at the two ports which do not work and I see the setting for whether or not to enable its use and it is blank and I can't change the option and enable it. What do I need to do to enable these ports?
