That would depend if the battery is installed, and in good working order. Plug/unplug with the battery installed should cause no problems, the battery acts as a buffer. Don't do it without the battery, and never do it to a desktop, bad things can happen. Power surges are not good.

An oversupply of voltage from the power company that can last up to 50 microseconds. Although surges are very short in duration, they often reach 6,000 volts and 3,000 amps when they arrive at the equipment. Power surges are a common cause of damage to computers and electronic equipment.

120 volts does the same thing to motherboards and it's components, they use 3, 5, and 12 volts, when there is a sudden surge of power. Like plugging it directly in with the power switch in the on position, over time it takes its toll

Make it a great day! .

It is possible to plug the laptop into an outlet while it is turned on, but it is never wise to plug anything to an outlet while it is on if it has an off switch. People do this frequently without any problem, I do not recommend doing this. It is best to be safe than to be sorry.

Yes, I plug my laptop into the wall all the time while it's running. Most of the time I just leave it in stand-by, and plug it in while it's starting back up so I can do 2 things at once. I've had mine for about 2 years and haven't had any problems yet!!

Yes it is safe, unless your laptop comes with a choice for which power it uses, the battery or the "plugged" one.
