The reason why I ask is because my laptop overheats dramtically and it has only been two weeks since I bought it. I know they get hot at the bottom, but mine gets extremely hot that it scortched my "fellowes" stand (a device I use to set my laptop on to eliviate it from getting too hot) the other day and now Im scared to use it because it might start a fire or cause me some sort of 3rd degree burn or something.
Is it normal for the XPS's M1710to get that hot on the bottom? Im confused as to how warm or hot the bottom part of the laptop should get. Does anyone have any advice for me on this matter?

Watch out that it might burn some thing in your house down. Also when your laptop has problems have fun with Dell customer service.

This might be a faulty fan, there is no reason for any laptop (made for entertainment or not) to heat up like that. Try getting some compressed air and blow out the insides if not call Dell customer support immediately before you ruin your CPU from the heat!
