Hard drives are much less expensive than they used to be but you have to know what you're getting. First, find out if your computer uses either SATA or IDE hard drives. If it uses both, remember SATA is both faster and easier to install.
Check www.newegg.com or www.mwave.com. Also check prices from shopping sites like streetprices.com, yahoo shopping, pricewatch.com, etc. Look for deals on slickdeals.net or bensbargains.net.
I wouldn't pay someone to install a hard drive. It is really easy to do on your own. Open up the case and find your old hard drive. You will simply connect the new drive the exact same way as the old one. Just be sure to unplug your computer before you get started and touch something large and metal before you handle any of the components. If you're installing a second drive you'll want to reset the jumpers so that your secondary drive is the slave. Find a friend that has done it before and let them do it, but I don't think you need to hire a tech to make it happen. Good luck!
As for the multiple drives question, you can have as many hard drives on your PC as your motherboard will accommodate. If you run out of IDE or SATA connectors, you can add them as external USB drives. As long as you can power them and as long as there's room, you can have as much storage as you want.

Two hard drives is easy to do it yourself. I like to buy the second drive with the same brand name as the first to avoid conflicts. The cables going from the motherboard to the hard drive are dual for two drives (master and slave) and the jumper settings on the drive let you select which is which. Go to "buildyourownpc.com" and read up then decide. Also, hard drives 160GB to 250GB are all around $100.00 these days so you may not need two. You can copy all the files on your old drive to the new drive upon installation . Walmart and Walmart.com - Tigerdirect.com have reasonable prices on new drives plus a lot of other.

The price of a hard drive will depend mainly on the size of hard drive that you want I would suggest trying amazon.com as for the installation you could install it yourself harddrives are very easy to install and the only thing holding it into the system in two or four screws depending on your system. Just be sure not to get rid of the metal chassi that hold that hard drive you will need that for the new one.

i have something that will solve your problem. I have an external hard drive which is just a block that sits next to my computer and is connected(so if you have a desktop this is not a problem i presume) these depending on the amound of storage con go anywhere from 70$(for a good 80gb), my personal favorite 97$ for a 250gb hard drive, and much higher. they can be purchased on amazon.com
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/002-9037979-7602412?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=external+hard+drive&Go.x=0&Go.y=0&Go=Go
and you can get more than one since most of the are plugged in by a 2.0 usb cord.

You can have as many Hard drives as your PC allows. It has expansion bays ,as many of those as you have is as many hard drives you can have. Hard drives prices depend on store quality and size. Wal-mart is my favorite store but if u need expensive quality go to a genuine computer store. As far as installation. it is very simple to install. as easy as installing a printer. Comes complete with CD ROM for installation and directions. Good Luck!!
