My Display Properties says my maximum resolution is 1600x1200 pixels. Will everything display right on a 20-inch 1680x1050 pixel monitor?

I have an hp dv6258se that I bought about a month ago. It's running Vista pre-installed. It worked fine for about a week but now about every other time I start it up, it has issues. A blue screen will come up stating some error and then at the bottom states crash dump initializing. What is this and how do I fix it? I have not installed any strange programs that I don't trust, nor do I have a virus that any of my up to date scanning software can find.

A friend of mine is having crashing problems on her PC. I downloaded SeaTools to check her hard drive for errors. I thought I would try it out on my computer to see how to use it. But it tells me "no hard drives found." What? I have two hard drives, and they are in perfect working order. Another person asked this here (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070215050626AAFIRhB) and they were given a false answer, which is very unhelpful. There appear to be an issue with getting SeaTools to detect drives. Does anyone know how I might get it to detect my hard drives?

I just bought a multi function center with fax but I thought it was the kind of fax I could plug into a phone line but it is the kind that faxes thru the pc somehow but it says i need to make sure I have a fax modem. I have no idea what that is or if I have one or not.

It is a AMD socket 939, 4600 duel core, 1 gig corsair xms 533 mhz ram ddr, sata 74 gig 10k rpm hdd, 200 gig wd sata, asus 8n32sli deluxe platform, lite-on dvd rw ulta speed 16x, dvd rom lite-on, 15 in 1 media card reader, and a PCIE 7900 gs bfg video card?
I want to buy or build another Identical, I know when I built this I was damn near top of the line but I dont think it is today. but I want to have another built.

lets say you install xp on a hard drive but forgot to register online with microsoft before 30 days for key...will you pc turn regardless?

For a while, I just told the kids that the CD-Rom was going out. For some reason, it was getting harder and harder for the drive to read pc games. It has no problem reading home made disks. But today, all day long, I have tried to play Sims 2 pets, and it wont do anything. The light just stays on, and it makes a sound as if it is trying to read the disk but cant. I put another game disk in and it does the same thing. But if I put in a picture cd, it'll read that.
Do I need to replace the drive? and if I do, how much would one cost? Remeber, I want to play the sims 2 and my son has the battlefield game; So it has to be fast enough for these games.

for the last 4 months i've been receiving a msg when i try to install a software. "extraction error,file corrupt"

i don't know what the problem is,i made a backup of my hard disk,and installed windows again.

i did that 5 TIMES with 5 different cds,i thought that it was a hardware problem,so i started tested each part one by one.i had 2 hard drive,two memory,and dvd burner.

everything else is built on-board

what do u think the problem can be?

i'm about to get a laptop and don't know with to choose between the Hp dv500 and the Dell Inspiron 1501. i'm only in 8th grade and don't need an biggy high-end gammeing laptop(though i wish i could). i need it for evry day tasking and for doing flight simluator 2004 games and other sim games. i will aslo use it for alot of music and photo's. i can't live without those. i aslo have a buget....it needs to be under $800:( i have an eMachines T2958 and i'm soooo sick with it. please help.
