i'm about to get a laptop and don't know with to choose between the Hp dv500 and the Dell Inspiron 1501. i'm only in 8th grade and don't need an biggy high-end gammeing laptop(though i wish i could). i need it for evry day tasking and for doing flight simluator 2004 games and other sim games. i will aslo use it for alot of music and photo's. i can't live without those. i aslo have a buget....it needs to be under $800:( i have an eMachines T2958 and i'm soooo sick with it. please help.

I coudn't find the dv5000 HP model But I found another one.
See for yourself and compare to take a decision between a Dell and HP.

Really, if the specifications are similar and the price is similar, you have to base your pick upon customer service.

We can't give you a suggestion based on specifications because you did not give us the specific model number of the HP. Sure, you said DV500 (wich i assume you mean dv5000) but that could be any number of different models that HP released under that series. It could be the DV5142 or the DV5022 or any other model number.

HP has service centers in almost every city that is larger than 25,000 people.

Dell does not, you have to ship it to them.

Dell has customer service reps that are based in the US and are very helpful. They even walk you through installing new components.

HP has outsourced their customer service reps to India. Most people have a hard time understanding them due to the accent, even though they speak better english than most of us.

It really all depends on what is more important to you.
