that ship has come and gone i'm afraid....
when i was in undergrad everyone was taking comp sci and getting a+ & msce certified on the side....you could actually put yourself through college on real basic repair work alone. Then you graduate and find IT deptments hiring all over the place at 60K to start with even modest qualifications. I actually knew someone that made more than that just programming HTML (nowadays you could drop off web updates on your secratery's desk and see it finished in an hour)
It's just not quite the hot field anymore.....programming is still in fairly reasonable demand but hardware techs are like mechanics. anyone can do an oil change and anyone can build a box and troubleshoot hardware.

Yes in general there is alot of work in the computer repair field. The amount of work in your particular area might vary depending on the number of residents and specifically the number of people in your area that have computers...

You know what my friend if this was 10 or 15 years ago i would tell you to hop on the band waggon and take the course. But now days everyone and their kid brother are fixing computers..I build and fix computers as a hobby for friends and family ...i have a friend who went to college for computers back in the late 80's where he met his wife and married her..Today he lives in Ottawa and is head of sales for Telus mobility ..setting up corporations with cell phones..everyone i know that went to school for computers back in the days when computers where really taking off .."back in the pentium 266 days" well most of not all of them have jobs in different fields..so i don't recommend you go to school for a computer repair course..i do recommend you go to school for computer programming..big jobs in video game programmers these days.

It's not that great now days. Computers have gotten so cheap that it's better to buy a new one than spend more than $200 fixing an old one.
