soft ware is the programme part of the system the untouchable part.
periperals are the extras you add on to the system

Hardware is anything that is a pysical thing either plugged into or inside the pc. For example, mouse, keyboard, speakers, monitor, sound card are all examples of hardware. Just remember there hard so you can touch them! That's how I remembered. It might help you too.
I know you didn't ask but software is the programs on your computer, such as msn messenger, internet explorer, games, etc. Hope I was of some help.
