I would like to know how to switch my CD-Rom drive from the secondary to the primary please.

I own an old IBM ThinkPad 240 laptop. I was trying to replace the drive with a larger one. The existing drive has a small black connector on it. I bought a new EIDE drive and it has the standard small pin layout (almost like a 3.5 hd would have). Can I remove the black connector from the existing Travelstar (the old HD) and use it on my new one to make it compatable?

I have a desktop computer, and the monitor won't come on when I turn the tower on. I made sure everything was plugged in okay, and everything was. The tower comes on okay, but the monitor doesn't even act like its coming on. The last time this happened, my cousin said some thing was rattled loose when I moved it to another house. She readjusted it, and it worked fine after that up until tonight. I done what she done last time to make sure nothing was loose, and everything *seemed* okay. What could it be? How could it be fixed? Thanks in advance for all answers!

I've set it to hibernate when it reaches low battery. Now, it just shuts down without so much as an on-screen warning. I've checked my hard drive and I have more than 5 GB free space. My battery has been running poorly lately, but I don't see how that should affect anything.

Not long ago and installed it into the laptop. My question is can I take the memory card out of the laptop (Compaq) and put into the desktop (Compaq) that I am on now?

If so where does it go in the desktop?

we have a belkin wireless keyboard + optical mouse system. And whenever i play any games (like runescape and maplestory), it becomes highly unresponsive; Keystrokes take exceedingly long, mouse barely moves, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with the batteries. Whenever i close the program, it works normally. What's happening?

Hi, i have saved up around 760 bucks, and i don't think i can save up more than that. Neways ... my 6 year old pc (compaq 800mhz amd duron, 768sdram, geforce mx4000, is driving me nuts). i had this cpu (with upgrades little by little every year),

i tried to buy a new processor last year (intel p4 2.8ghz, and i found out it doesn't even support my system.) i was soo mad.
neways..... the only games i can play on this garbage cpu is games like wc3, but i wanna play games like battlefield 2, Need for speed most wanted, fps games ( not too intense)

So do u guys think i should get a cpu from a store like best buy who got pcs like HP, emachines, etc....
or.. should i go to a nearby cpu custom shop and have them built me a cpu?

And if i were to choose the custom cpu place, can u guys tell me the parts i need and how much each of them coasts , so i can tell them to make me a pc in that price range? thx alot

I'd also like to add that i have no credit card so i can't do any online purchases.

my powerbook says it only has about 700mb left on it's HD, when i restart it's about 2-3 GB. i have about 30gb music in my itunes library.... will storing my music on an external hard drive help and make it faster? (i work with programs like photoshop and autocad, has to be faster!!) or should i rather upgrade my ram?

Is it a common practice for Apple to bind the latest OS release (Leopard this time) with Mac Book (pro) as soon as the OS is released? Or it will be a long while between the OS release data and the time they build the OS into hardware?

It happened on it's own..,first the taskbar moved to the side of my screen then another tome i rebooted,it was back in the right place..,but much bigger...?
Tried the pointer on the edge of the bar to reduce it..,with no effect...!!!

I already runned the install CD on boot, but the installer does not detect the Hard Disk, it's a 100GB 5400 RPM SATA.

I already formated
Created a new partition
It originally had Vista but I need an older S.O. for a special software that I have

Now it seems my D drive that I had as my hard drive is gone, and now the C drive is the hard drive (or the one holding everything), and I can't install any programs because it keeps saying there is very low space.
