Hardware - March 2007

The hard drive for my laptop is corrupted, i was able to rescue the stuff on it, but when we try to format it with the windows XP disk, it get's to 100% and says it won't work, we used a Maxtor floppy before hand to do a complete format, and it worked, but nothing else.

Any suggestions on what to do to repair it or where i can find a good deal on 40-80 GB hard drive for my laptop (in Windsor, Ontario, Canada)?

i did nothing to mess up the sound. i just turned it on and no sound, it was working yesterday and now nothing. so i hooked up speakers, no sound. then headphones, no sound. then i checked the sound options to make sure master volume was up and mute was off and it was all fine. i do not know what to do please help

I know I need a TV tuner on my laptop but are these wireless?
If so, what am I watching? Is it from TV signals or from a special website from the internet?

And, are these compatible worldwide? MEaning, do they have special frequency where it can only work in the US? Can it be used on another countries?

Please provide which company makes these if they do exist .

I try to start my laptop but the screen stays black.
Before, when it was working, it would always give me a blue screen and shut down. Now it doesn't seem to be working at all. This has happened a few times and by resetting it I was able to start it up again, but now I can't seem to get it to even start up anymore. Anything I can do?

I installed a Kensington Combo Lock on my laptop, I tested my security code first, and then attached it. Before attaching it to the table, I decided to test removing it once. When I went to, I could not open it anymore. Kensington was no help, I tried opening the laptop and that did not help much. I have seen videos on YouTube of people removing other Kensington Locks with pens, etc..., but how can you remove (or break) the combo locks? Thank you.

printer is hp8250 and prints other reports fine - only problem is when printing in yahoo. the printing is very tiny and looks like it is mostly programming language with the actual material inserted.
