Pentium is a particular collection of chips - and not the latest from Intel.
AMD is a company that makes chips.
If you want to compare Intel and AMD, then the CPUs have little to choose between them these days.
I would tend towards an Intel chip, but only because I've found Intel brand motherboards to be more reliable and Intel don't make AMD compatible motherboards.

AMD is known in the gaming community to rule over Pentium. Pentium rules when you compare it to everyday usage, because its a superior mulitsking processor....Since gamers only make up a small portion of the market, intel has 90% of the processor market.....
So for gaming, AMD all the way, anything else, Pentium.....

there really is no better in the 2. with amd you get great prefromance at a cheaper price and INTEL you pay alot more but jsut as good. they go back and forth as who has the best processor.
I know gammers like the AMD better as its more compatiable than intel chips with other parts.

Surf the net, read the reviews and comparisons. They have the objective numbers.
Compare for yourself the prices using the reference source below. Regarding comparing prices, should take into account the cost of total ownership, meaning the cost of cpu, compatible motherboard, compatible memory, proper power supply, proper cpu cooling, and electric bill over the period of a month.
Convince yourself which is better.
In general when we pay more, we expect better performance.

You know what? It really doesn't matter...unless you have very specific needs. If you have to ask, dont worry about it. Both work well. Both are fast. AMD costs less.
