Favourite for ntldr message is leaving a floppy in the floppy drive (if you have one). Take it out and try again.

Sounds to me like your Windows installation is corrupted. NTLDR is a program that is executed by a computer's BIOS which, in turn, boots a Windows operating system. Under normal conditions you shouldn't ever see any kind of mention of NTLDR because, well, it works in mysterious ways behind the scenes. If you're seeing NTLDR then something serious is amiss - quite possibly a case of missing files in the C:\Windows\System32\config folder.

How this could happen under normal, safe usage is anyone's guess, but if you have a recovery CD, a Windows boot CD or you can trust your laptop with someone who knows what they're doing then it is fixable without reinstalling Windows. (Reinstalling Windows is the solution of the idle man.)

Anyway, supply further information for a more specific answer.

FYI, they are the same thing - and then again not. The two terms have merged, as far as computers' Basic Input Output Systems - their simple low-level operation - are concerned. CMOS actually stands for Complimentary Metal Oxide Semiconductor and is a type of microchip with a low power consumption. As such, it is the obvious choice for BIOS chips, which need battery power to keep the settings when the computer is switched off.
