A better question might be why don't people want to have touch screen PCs. And the main reasons are your fingers are big so anything that you want to "touch" has to be big on the screen and most people would like that. Second touching the screen gets it dirty and I personally don't want to be constantly cleaning it. Also a touch screen has more to go wrong.

panasonic makes a touch screen laptop and you can buy a touchscreen for your pc that uses the mouse port also most of the new tablet pc's have touch screens

They actually do. THe problem is, only big corporations use them for delicate projects because its hard to have an lcd monitor with finger prints all over it. YOu d have problems seeing your screen.
