I got an Apple Mac Book and was wondering if they get viruses like microsoft. So it would be a great pleasure if I could know if they do or not. THANK YOU!

Usually Macs don't get as much viruses as Microsoft, but there is still a large amount of hackers who make viruses. If I were you, I would update the computer as much as possible, and have a virus protectent installed.

Very rarely because people who make viruses usually use Microsoft Windows so the viruses will not work on any other operating system.

Yes, it is possible... But Macs usually do not get viruses. It is very hard to get a virus that effect Macs.

Macs can get viruses too. they are rare, but not impossible. even cell-phones and PDAs can get viruses. any computer system can get one, people just aren't writing them. the reason there are so many windows viruses are that windows is the most popular system, which means to get more computers and spread faster, you would write one for windows.

People say they don't only because the virus-creators can impact exponentially more pc's rather than mac's, so they don't create as many. I've seen this a lot working in IT, because people think they're not vulnerable only because they have a Mac.

No. They are virus free. In theory it is possible for any operating system to get a virus, but in the real world only Microsoft Windows is plagued by adware, spyware and viruses.

With Mac OS X you also won't have to worry about "doing a defrag", "fixing your registry" or having random shutdowns and slowdowns.

difficult for them to get viruses, but EVERY computer could get a virus. there are constantly new viruses emerging. so yea. they probably can get them.. it's just not that likely.

I presume they would, but less frequently. According to a friend, as less people use Mac's nobody can be bothered writing virus for them, as Microsoft's operating system is more used, virus' have more effect, its more fulfilling for people to write them. Wait for a 2nd opinion, i could be wrong.
