Now it seems my D drive that I had as my hard drive is gone, and now the C drive is the hard drive (or the one holding everything), and I can't install any programs because it keeps saying there is very low space.

Does anyone know how I can correct this?

The thing is, before the computer crashed, the hard drive WAS the D drive, and it DID have a lot of space. Now there's about none. I think the partition thing is the part where I messed up. I'll try it again.

Sounds like you really installed windows the wrong way. Your D drive should be you CD drive. The C drive should be your hard drive.

Did you follow these steps to reinstall windows?

Insert the OSD into the CD or DVD drive.
Press and hold the Power button for five seconds to turn off the notebook or pc.
Press the Power button again to start the notebook or pc
Press any key to boot from CD when prompted. The Welcome to Setup screen is displayed.
Press the Enter key to continue. A Licensing Agreement screen is displayed.
Press the F8 key to accept the agreement and continue. The Setup window is displayed.
Press the Esc key to continue installing a fresh copy of the operating system without repairing.
Press Enter to setup the operating system.
Press C to continue using this partition.
Select Format the partition using the NTFS file system (Quick) and press Enter. A caution is displayed that formatting this drive will delete all current files.
To cancel this procedure press the Esc key on the keyboard.
To continue with reformatting your hard drive press the F key on your keyboard.
The reinstallation process begins and may take several minutes to complete. The notebook restarts into Windows after the process is complete.
NOTE: When prompted for the product key, refer to the Microsoft Certificate of Authenticity located on the bottom of the notebook or pc

i think the hard drive just changed names (from D: to C:). I also think you installed windows in a different folder than the first one, which explains why you have no disk space.

the way to fix it is to delete the old windows folder.

you can find which windows you are using by clicking on Start button>run>type MSINFO32

you'll see a screen like this:
OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600
OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation
System Name SYSTEM
System Manufacturer Hewlett-Packard
System Model Pavilion zd8000 (PU742AV#ABA)
System Type X86-based PC
Processor x86 Family 15 Model 4 Stepping 3 GenuineIntel ~3192 Mhz
Processor x86 Family 15 Model 4 Stepping 3 GenuineIntel ~3192 Mhz
BIOS Version/Date Hewlett-Packard F.34, 9/20/2005
SMBIOS Version 2.31
Windows Directory C:\WINDOWS
System Directory C:\WINDOWS\system32
Boot Device \Device\HarddiskVolume1

so C:\WINDOWS is your Windows Directory.

now press [windows key]+F and search for: WIN.INI

there will be two folders, your windows directory (from step 1) and the other one.

delete the other one in explorer, and empty your recycle bin.

c is the drive letter that windows automatically assigns to the hard drive
as for the space thing, you may just have a small hard drive
look at it and see how much space is left
you should still have about 10% of your drive left

It in all probability only extracted the audio driving force rather of putting in it. verify to be certain the place the information have been extracted too (you may re-run the driving force software and it will inform you) then open gadget supervisor and replace your audio driving force, whilst it comes up the place you opt to seek, manually specify the extracted folder. it is going to stumble on your driving force and installation it properly.
