My wireless optical mouse + keyboard become unresponsive when playing certain games?

we have a belkin wireless keyboard + optical mouse system. And whenever i play any games (like runescape and maplestory), it becomes highly unresponsive; Keystrokes take exceedingly long, mouse barely moves, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with the batteries. Whenever i close the program, it works normally. What's happening?

Considering you are talking about playing online games - it is most likely your Internet connection. if you use Wireless Internet as well, that can interfere with the wireless keyboard signals in this case change the tying speed.
