I currently have 512mb of RAM on my computer. If I buy 512mb of RAM, will that add to the 512mb I currently have or will it be the same?

that depends on how that 512 is divided up and how many ram slots your board has. If you have 3 and you current ram takes up 2 then you add one more and it adds to the ram if you only have 2 and there are 2 in it, it means you have 2 256 cards so you would remove one of those add your new 512 making it 768mb ram. best bet get a 1meg card and put it in you never have too much unlenss its more thanyour board can handle. most can halde atleast 2 nowadays

You will then have 1gb of ram.. go to www.crucial.com and use their system configurator or their memory scanner and it will tell you how much you can put in, speed, and configuration.....
God bless..
