I have a Gateway MT3705 laptop. It has 2x512 MB DDR2 SDRAM 533 MHz

If I go to Circuit City and get a 1GB DDR2 chip at 667Mhz will that work on my laptop?

I'm trying to find the best deal here. I'd love to walk into a store and but it, rather than order it.

I have a Toshiba, less than a year old with a 'Centrino Duo'. Occasionally, in the middle of whatever, the screen will go out; black, not totally off, still glowing. It's still on. But I have to turn it off manually and restart for it get back going. What is this? How do I stop it from happening again?


p.s. It doesn't have the little white button/ push switch.

I have an HP computer with a AMD Athlon(T) XP 3000+ 2.167 GHz CPU with no graphics card. In July of last year I bought a Geforce FX 5200 graphics card and it was working well for a good 4 months until I had to get a new monitor the the damn thing didn't work anymore.

Now I thought it was the graphics card until I bought another one today(5 months later), the same one, and that card wouldn't work nether. Everytime I turn on the computer with the card in it the computer shows the start up screen then the monitor goes to sleep. The computer still runs and you can even hear it come on through the speakers (you know that startup sound). So now I know that it's the computer or a monitor problem. I don't know if something is turned off or not. Please HELP!!!!!!!!!!

Why? Seriously, people. Why do so few people read the MANUALS that come with their hardware? The same questions flood Yahoo! Answers every day. Something like "hi i just bught my new laptup and i my cnt find com port or whatevr how to fix this" or "my computer is sloooooowwwww.... what do i do".
I don't know if you knew this, but when you buy something, you usually get a manual for no extra charge right out of the box. The point of those manuals is to be READ, but why do so many people just ignore them?

I've been told by some other people that I have to solder one lead at a time, holding the iron no more that 2 seconds (or something like that) and then letting the component completely cool again before trying to do the next lead. Is this true?

when i insert my flash drive it says that (Removable Disk (F:)), when i open it, it says "Please insert a disk into drive F:" saying that it isn't inserted, but it detects it, it's like that it automatically ejects it.

HOW can i solve this?

i even try to format it but it still says "Please insert a disk into drive F:"

what is the cause of this?

Every time I put in a CD my computer couldn't recognize it as it being in there. It didn't use to do that. Except, one time it did recognize it as it being inside. I tried to rip the CD on WMP and it would rip then stop. Then I got the CD out and it had this big huge scratch that was not there before, because it was a new CD. Now, it is making this really weird noise everytime I open it and close it.

I have a Big Lacie 500 gb external hard drive i have been using for over a year and now just randomly out of the blue, it will not show up on my computers desktop and will not give any indication it is connected at all. any help would be greatly appreciated, as i have over 30 GB of media on there that i would hate to lose!! the disks are still spining in it, i can feel it working right, but there is a little bit of a jimmy if i unplug it and plug it in again, as its powering up, it creates a little noise i cant even describe it, but then runs smooth? any ideas???

whats up with dell ink cartages? I had noticed that the cartages did not last very long! I just received an order today, $26.00 for a black cartage, I just started printing articles, and I got a grand total of 156 pages printed from one cartage. Its completely out of ink !! That is ridiculous. And they (dell) ask for return of cartages ,in free envelope. Whats up, do dell fill them half full of ink and resell them? Its hard to believe that a $26.00 cartage will only print 156 pages. Yes, I had my printer turned to as light as it would go. I could not even read the last three pages. I was unaware that I could only get cartages from dell. I went to Staples, only to learn I couldn't get them. They had other brands for $12.00 and would give a $3.00 exchange with the old cartage. Total of $9.00. Does anyone have an answer? I would be thankful for any information. I sure can't afford the dell price on a monthly social security budget. Can kits be purchased for a do it yourself refill?

Hi, im trying to scan a pictue but it wont go to my picture documents... This is what i did... I went to my control pannel and clicked scanners and cammeras. Then once i got there i pressed scan profiles, then once i got there,i clikced on "add"
Once I scanned my picture, i wrote my profiles name then clicked save profile. Then all of a sudden it went to the scan profiles... How do I get it to go to my picture documents? I set it as default... O yeah once it was in the scan profiles i clicked on the profile but it wont do anything...
