I'm new to "burning". I've researched and found out the differences in the +/- formats, also the r/rw formats. I bought some blank DVDs & CDs prior(!) to learning the differences. Now, a couple of questions are occurring to me: first off, do I REALLY need to use the CD burner, if I also have the DVD burner, and almost as important, I'm noticing that some blanks are sold as "data" and others as "music". Is there REALLY a difference? Should I always have both? And what are movies(music or data)?

well lately i've been getting all these used computer parts and i figure that there's a way i can turn a profit on them.... how would i do this? i know that i could put together a system and sell it but could i make money selling individual parts? what kind of stuff would i need to test and clean all the parts? do i need to put all the parts in a working computer to check or is there another way? how do i figure out how much to charge for these computers/parts? thanks!

When my computer starts, it shows PIII 1.3 Ghz but when I right click on My computer and properties it shows Celeron 433 Hz, I checked with my vendor but he is also confused. He removed the chip and it was PIII. My OS is Windows XP, please let me know the reason and solution for the same.

I bought a HP 6300c on the secondary market. It came with all the software and in good shape. I loaded the software, followed the set up instructions, downloaded all updates and patches from HP. One of the download updates said that it did not load correctly and my computer (DELL, WINDOWS XP Home) says that it cannot initialize the hardware. When I try to get the computer to find the scanner, it cannot find it. I called HP, but they told me that they do not provide support for this product any more. Can anyone help me?

ok i have a fairly average speed computer
however it takes like 10 minutes to completely boot up
i am a fast paced person and i would like to cut that time
i have done the msconfig thing and everything
also i am having a hard time getting my ati tv tuner to work (software)

my pc specs are:
3.33ghz cpu
100gb 7200rpm harddrive (partitioned)
1.5gb ram (512 in first slot, 1024 in second slot)
512mb ati video card
Ati Wonder 200 (tv tuner)
and wireless card

what upgrades are available
to boost boot time

I have a laptop and webcam both with internal mics. The webcam mic is better but the laptop is always switching itself to use it's own mic, How do i disable the laptop mic?

I own an hp windows xp (purchased in 2001) and someone gave me an epson stylus photo 820. I downloaded the disk given with the printer, my computer excepted it but very time I try and print something it says computer is not comunicating with printer. I have unplugged and replugged every connection but with no luck does anyone have an answer for my problem.

I have a dell xps 200 that's running xp media edition. I had to get the Windows reinstallation DVD from Dell b/c they do that whole OEM/bundled-softwar thing. Anyway, they sent me an XP Pro reinstallation DVD. Well, when I try to use it I get a blue screen saying that it can't continue b/c SCSI devices haven't been properly terminated. I've been googling for hours and can't find an answer. Please help.

Recently my laptop DVD drive stopped working (not visible in My Computer, but visible in Device Manager with yellow exclamation point and error code 37) . I called Gateway, they told me I needed to send my PC in. Geeksquad at Bestbuy examined and tested my PC and said the same thing. I didn't want to give it up for 2 weeks. Looking on line I found the solution of deleting upper and lower filters i Registry with Regedit. I followed this procedure and now it works fine.

First, what are the upper and lower filters. Second, why did they get set badly. Third why are Gateway and GeekSquad unable to solve a problem that I can solve?

I am planning on buying my first computer soon.
Right now, I have a computer that was made in 95 and had Windows 98 on it and it has Microsoft works. I never upgraded it so it is REALLY slow.
My husband uses the computer to listen to music and watch stuff on you tube. I just want one that will have Word and Excel.
Where is the best place to buy a computer? Will we need to buy a new cable modem?
Oh and we don’t want to send more the $1000.



The computer we have now what a gift when I was in high school so I never bought one.
