I bought a HP 6300c on the secondary market. It came with all the software and in good shape. I loaded the software, followed the set up instructions, downloaded all updates and patches from HP. One of the download updates said that it did not load correctly and my computer (DELL, WINDOWS XP Home) says that it cannot initialize the hardware. When I try to get the computer to find the scanner, it cannot find it. I called HP, but they told me that they do not provide support for this product any more. Can anyone help me?

I would try to reinstall the drivers. Some times you need to install the CD software that came with the hardware before connecting it otherwise it will corrupt the drivers. Try to remove the device from the device manager screen and then reinstall the drivers. Worst case, I would try to use another computer or laptop to test if there is nothing wrong with the scanner.... all the best.
