Personally I'm glad I stayed with XP, not going to change for 12 months even though my PC is Vista capable.

I have Vista as a second operating system on my computer. I really liked the new graphic shiny stuff, but this reduce the performance of your machine, it really needs a powerful computer!
If you ask me why I wont use Vista as my first operating system I will tell you why:
1-It slows my machine even that I have a powerful one.
2- some softwares didn't work in it like Adobe reader 8, which is a bad sign that other programs might not work either.
3- Vista needs longer time to start and to shut down than XP.
4- I don't need the HIGH level of security that Vista offer, may be if am using my computer as a server I would think about it, anyway, any anti virus would do the job.
5- You don't need to install drivers, Vista will do it. But it didn't recognize my new HP printer, which doesn't have a Vista CD to install its driver, so you might need to go check the web for drivers that vista doesn't support.

The things I liked about Vista is the new Aero look and the Chess game :D
In my opinion it doesn't deserve that high price.

Personally, I'm not getting Vista for like 12 months. This is probably recommended to any gamers out there, because dx10 games aren't coming out for a while, and right now, u'll get worse performance on a Vista computer, because of the rushed drivers. I also prefer a Mac over Windows, but i just use my XP computer for gaming. Everything else I do on a Mac, especially using the internet. I am probably going to stick to Macs for home computers, and just upgrade my pc over time for gaming and for Vista.

My dad got Vista and I had to try to fix all the problems with it. First of all, there was an about blank page error that was apparently a script error that I couldn't fix, he had software & hardware compatibility problems. Some of the programs I wanted to install to help him with maintenance were of course not compatible with Vista.

I also hated the endless clicks from the security center. Just a little excessive and annoying.

To me it looks like just another Microsoft product that was rushed out without having all the bugs worked out. It's all about the money though.

I'll stick with my XP Pro for awhile until the bugs are worked out.

If Vista comes pre-installed on a new PC its pretty cool, but everyone I know who upgraded from XP has had major problems.

while you're questioning approximately upgrading, then do not. Microsoft has even virtually admitted to the "bypass Vista" element. they're popping out with their next working equipment in a twelve months or 2 besides. bypass to Google and seek for abode windows 7. it particularly is the subsequent one that Microsoft is already liberating to builders.
