It beeps even when the sound is muted and headphones are plugged in. The charger is plugged in so it should not be beeping because it is running out of battery. This has become quite distracting especially when studying in a quiet library. How do I stop it from beeping?

Some of the icons of my desktop won't do anything when I click it. When I download a file, if I click on it, nothing happens. Should I reboot my computer? How do I Reboot my computer? Is there anyway to check what viruses I have? If anyone has the time, what happens when you reboot your computer? Thanks.

Will and American HDTV Ready monitor without a tuner work in the UK if connected to an HD source.

I know someone will hove tons to say about PAL and NTSC and maybe even voltage being 220-240 in UK, but HD has nothing to do with PAL or NTSC and most monitors (computer) are dual voltage. It is a digital source and not analog like PAL and NTSC.

Someone suggested that HDTV source in Europe operate at 25 fps and in the USA it is 30 fps.

Anyway will and HDTV ready monitor (eg. a 40" computer monitor) work in the UK.

Do you have any links with this information?

My friend got this computer for free. When he went to play and burn CD's on his CD writer, it opened it, but it came up with a blank screen, like there is nothing in there. He can eject the drive from the desktop. He has another CD drive that works perfectly fine. What is the problem? It says that the device is working properly. Could it be the driver?

I just got a new laptop (Dell Latitude D620, it has bluetooth capabilities) and I was wondering what kind of mouse everyone recommends. I don't like those real tiny mice, and I definitely prefer an optical mouse. I will use it frequently, so battery life is pretty important. I also do not want with any big, bulky connector to the computer, those tiny USB transmitters are what I really want. I don't need a whole lot of buttons on it, but if there's one you want to recommend that has a bunch do not hold back! I have been shopping between the common Microsoft, Logitech, Targus, and others, and they all seem to have several bad reviews. What should I get??

I just bought an Iomega external hard drive for my laptop, which is a Dell Inspiron. It allows me to transfer files to the external hard drive, but when I try to transfer a large file to the external hard drive, it tells me I do not have enough space. I have 300GB of space on the external hard drive open right now.

The files I am trying to transfer are recorded television shows I recorded using microsoft windows media edition. They range from 4GB - 6GB in size. Can anyone tell me why this will not let me transfer these files from my C: to me E:? Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I started having trouble with my curser moving around the page by itself a couple weeks ago and thought the mouse went bad, so I bought a new one. It's a GE optical mouse. Today, it's really bad. It moves all over the page, highlights things, etc. It looks almost like someone else has control, but i know this isn't the case. Can anyone tell me what might be going on and how I could fix it? I'm running Win XP 2002 Professional SP2.
Thanks in advance!
Joan

I bought a new computer recently and it is supposed to have 1GB of RAM. When I view Properties in My Computer, the RAM is stated as being 768MB. Inside the machine are two sticks of 512MB PC2-4300 CL4 memory, which should in theory total 1024MB. I tried each stick individually without the other, and in Properties they were both listed as being 448MB of RAM. Even though they should be 512MB each, the total of two 448MBs is 896MB, yet together they're totalling 768MB. I'm a bit stumped by this.

My machine is an Acer Aspire T180. There are four slots for memory; two are brown and two are orange. The sticks are beside each other in the two brown slots. Does anybody have any ideas what's wrong?
