and defragging. My computer is about 3 years old and I am down to 57% memory. I've deleted a LOT of stuff and did a disk clean up and defragging of course. (I do that weekly regardless). Any helpful suggestions? I know I could wipe everything out and start all over with a recovery disk but I really don't want to do that. Any other suggestions? Thanks to all who answered my last question. THAT was a amazing. I'm new to all of this so I was quite impressed!

I was annoyed when I called Dell and they told me that vista will be available between March and early April. While other customers got theirs on january 30. Dell even encouraged us to buy pcs before vista so that we can get upgrade kits later. Vista is sure to come with new pcs after January 30 and then they even get to have vista before us.

How long does it take to make the darn Disk.

I am running XP on my computer, have an HP laserjet 1300, and just bought a Cannon Lide 70 scanner. MY printer was working fine until I hooke up the scanner. I tried to print something that I had scanned and the error message was" PCL XL Error, Subsystem Image" So, after troubleshotting, it was determined to update the printer driver. I tried to do this through the HP website, but for some reason I had issue with the .exe file. Now I can't print at all either the scanned items or anything pre existing on my computer. Now the error mesage is "PCL XL Kernel " WTF? Help PLEASE!!!!

Need to upgrade my Dell XPS (only got one gig of RAM). Currently runs with a singled GB DDR2 SDRAM stick at 677mhz. Are there any compatiblity issues (or any issues) if I install another DDR2 1GB stick, but at 533mhz? Is it ok to have different speeds on one PC?

I know how to get to the settings by clicking properties but the resolution bar does not move, and the color is stuck at 16 bit as well I need 32 bit.

i am completely new to this...so yeah i have a laptop, but how do i know if my computer can be conected to the internet in lets say a coffeshop or something? is there a special software or hardware that has to be installed in my computer? or do i call the internet service provider to set me all up? and how much does it cost you?

I am using a VGA monitor, which works fine on my ATI Radeon 7500. I got a new monitor, with DVI connection. I get no output through my DVI port

I have tried the following
-the monitor works, used it on a different PC
-used a DVI-VGA converter, not working with VGA monitor.
-If I attempted dual screen, I could never enable two screens.
-Installing ATI Hydravision and ATI Catalyst. :-(
-Reinstall Windows, no good.

What is wrong with thmy PC. Is it the graphics card, BIOS?

PC - AMI BIOS 1999, AMD 800Mhz PC, 64MB ATI Radeon 7500, 40GB HDD, 512MB RAM

(Please note that I will NOT risk flashing my BIOS)

My laptop just quit working for me. The battery was charged and everything. I took the battery out and warmed it with my body heat and it works a little bit but if someone bumps the table, it shuts off. What is going on?!

The windows wizard flashes on screen for a nano-second then disappears. Device works fine in husband's PC but won't show anywhere on mine. I had a similar problem with my phone until Sony gave me step by step details to fix it - and also my camera no longer talks to my computer...they worked fine on the old PC...

I am building muself a new computer. It is going to be a cheap gameing computer (2.4 GHZ processor, 1GB of ram, and a 256 Mb video card). I see power supplys that go from 300 watts to over 500 watts. Do I realy need 550 watts of power for my computer? How would I determin which one is right for me?

I have an OMC desktop PC with an Award Modular Bios v4... i need to login to the bios setup so i can reset it since it wasnt boothing up.... but it keeps requesting for a password..... i have cleared the cmos setup.... removed the cmos battery for several hours.... but it still keep requesting for the password.... when it is boothing up, it show a message ... checksum error.. default loaded... pls i need a default password for the bios setup...somebody help me out

My motherboard is "Acorp 7kmm1". I put a HDD SEAGATE 160 GB.
Then my BIOS detect that the HDD has capacity 139 GB. And when I try to install windows it's write "Error loading operation system".
Please could you tell me what is the problem and how can I fix it.
