I have dsl. some one told me i need to call dsl and let them set up my compter 's id address.

You can use Microsoft tunneling services.
Goto
Run and enter "mstsc" then you will need the IP address of your computer at home.
Goto Google and put in the search line "whats my IP"
This will tell you the net address of your home computer.
Put that IP in the mstsc connect line !
Make sure both computers are setup to use remote connection.
