My laptop just quit working for me. The battery was charged and everything. I took the battery out and warmed it with my body heat and it works a little bit but if someone bumps the table, it shuts off. What is going on?!

It doesn't run on AC and it won't run on a full battery. The contacts are clean and the battery is put in correctly. What stumps me is that a slight bump to the system will make it shut off.

Did you or anyone else drop the laptop? If not...

How do you know if the battery has a full charge? If the laptop doesnt work on a full battery, then the battery is probably dead. How long does it take to charge to full capacity? How long does it take to discharge? Most laptops run 2 hours on battery alone w/o AC. A dead battery with shorted cells will appear to charge, but discharge almost immediately. Sounds like this is happening. Buy a new battery. Your problem will be solved.

The only solution I know to bypass a BIOS password is removing the battery.. I don't mean the laptop battery - that would be too easy ;-) - I mean the motherboard battery (that little battery that lets the laptop remember the date/hour and the BIOS settings). But I'm not sure it's an easy task with a laptop :-S I guess some software solutions exist, but it's usually not a good idea to play with that..

According to the details you have given... It looks like some kind of connection problem..

first take out the battery and connect to ac outlet and check.
if it works then it means that battery connection problem.

if it does not work then for best quality take it to nearest service dealer like Compusa or Best Buy....

Does it have warranty on it?

Does it work off of AC? It may be dirty contacts on the battery or the motherboard.
