I'm building a website for school, and I need to compare my resolution to the schools.
I'm not the best with computers, more the Internet on it's own, so the simpler, the better.
:D Apologies if I put this in the wrong category; as I said, I'm not great at computers, and I'm not sure where this should be.

Why is it with 3 laptops in the home and a Lkinksys Broadband wireless 2.4 is hookuped to our computer are the lap tops even if in the same room not able to connect to the internet? "Out of range" or "unable to connect" yet at times 1 of the 3 is able to connect. Is there a possibility that something is connected wrong or should we be looking on the laptop for possible problems?

I have an old pentium 3 computer i got from my grandpa. it has a 20 gb hard drive with windows xp on it, but i didnt get an os disc, and he lost it. Heres my question: if i get a new computer by building it myself with seperate parts, can i use the old hard drive and run windows xp off of it?

I recently bought a large hard drive and want to partition it. I still have a 80GB hard drive, so this will be attached as a slave and I will allocate the large drive for various projects/backups. It seems fdisk has limitations in creating DOS partitions.

recently i have gone into the market looking for a new cmputer
my only dilema is what kind?
what i would really like to know is the difference between apples and other computers such as a dell or a vaio or whatever
i have been told that between apples and computers like dells were both originaly made to specify in different areas such as apples were made for music
i have also been told that apples are the luxery line of somputer and that dells and alike were made for people that need and easy system to control
and finally i have heard that apples are at less or a risk to get virus's is this true?

recommendations of good computers are also welcome

One of the computer's keyboard in my class somehow turned off. It is plugged into the correct port on the back of the computer but typing doesn't work. i replaced my cpu cooler few months ago. I didnt apply the thermal grease after replacing the cpu cooler. After replacing my cpu cooler, i tuned on my computer, but the power light does not come on, and the screen is blank. There is noise going on inside of my computer. What does the thermal grease do? and What would happen if i dont apply the thermal grease and just replace the cpu cooler? Please help me, my computer is sitting in my garage!!!

I got my son a laptop but we can't play any video on it. It says it came with a video card and it is dvd capable... but when I hit the Google video it just comes up blank. Any idea what I can do to fix this?

123 software is on 3.5 floppy disks. It is possible to buy an external 3.5 drive which plugs into a USB port and load Lotus 123 on my new computer? Do I need to buy the Lotus 123 software on CD disks? Can I convert my "old" Lotus 123 files into a different format and import them into the Microsoft Works Spreadsheet on my new computer. Somehow, I did something and messed up my settings. Now web pages are too big horizontally for a window, so I have to scroll right all the time. I changed the resolution from 800x600 to 1024x768 and can see the entire page in the window, but the words are microscopic. I tried increasing the text size ("View" on the toolbar), and it works on some pages but other pages become too big for the window again. Plus, it reverts back every time I close the browser, and I have to increase the size each time I open it again.

Is there some way to make pages fit the window without having to scroll over, but also have larger text so I can actually read it? (I use Firefox as my browser.) Thanks!
