Every day, I am vastly amazed with how little PC users know about the Mac. Windows is more "user friendly" than a Mac? Where on God's green Earth did you get an idea like that? Did Bill Gates tell you to say that? That's entirely untrue. Macs are the most user friendly computers ever conceived. The whole idea of "user friendly" and "point and click" were founded by Apple and the Macintosh. Windows and Mac are "not compatible"? That's even more untrue than the last myth. They are very compatible. In fact, Macs can even run Windows XP and run it better than most high end PCs. Don't try to tell me that I don't know what I'm talking about. I was a PC user from DOS and Windows 3.1 to Windows XP. I know the difference between Mac and PC. I chose Mac, and for good reason. If you have any Mac related questions, send me a message. I'll be happy to tell you about Mac.

The Mac. You can put XP on the Mac along with OS X, so you get two for the price of one, more or less. I take care of the computers for my company, which coincidentally are Macbooks and Dells laptops.
The new Intel Macs are much better than the old models. You can use a regular PC mouse on them if you don't like the Apple one button rodent.
OS X is a much much better OS than Windows.

Hi.
First I would ask if you are fairly aquainted with PCs in general. If you aren't, then I can only answer with my experience. I prefer The Dell, and at present am checking out the Dell 1710 SPS. It has a 17" monitor, which gives a lot better view for the buck, and Intel is second to none in the field of processors. The new OS is coming out soon, and If I were a new starter with PCs, lap top, or desktop, I would wait and opp for the new OS (Vista).
You will find pros and cons about my choice, but ask a technician which he would prefer working on, and then decide how much you want to spend.
I hope this helps.

Ture, windows is more user friendly, but so are macs once you get used to where everything is located as well as how to access different features that are real time savers like automator.Macs, as well as being a little less virus prone, are less likely to freeze on you when working on a project. They are also great for multimedia. however if you want to do a lot of work that you are going to share to a wide range of people opt for a dell or another brand seeing as all of the file extensions on a mac aren't able to be viewed on a pc.

I have a Dell and I'm pretty happy with it, but In the future I think I'm going to go for a Mac. I'm sick of Window's and it's weakness to viruses. It's a giant virus collector. I heard that Macs have a strong defense against viruses and the like because most viruses are programmed to target Windows. :)

But when it comes down to it, it's not neccessarily the company who makes it, but the specs of your laptop. The more memory, ram, and all that good stuff, the better. ;P

Dell

Apple Macs aren't practically unless your are really into Media and constructive work such as performing your own music.
Most people are more computer literate on Windows and in higher education you can use your laptop to produce work without the need to convert files.

Apple Macs and Windows are not compatible.

Dell are also cheaper.. and offer much more flexibility and custom-ability of the product i.e upgraded RAM etc...
