To the poster above, he has an older system from 1999. Yes, it is possible, you need to buy a USB 2.0 PCI card though. They are available in many online stores (newegg.com), or at a computer store near you. You can install that card in your computer and then install its driver, and then you will have USB 2.0, but only on that card, not on the motherboard's ports.

You can't upgrade your USB, but you can add more USB ports. Just buy a $16 USB 2.0 pci card and pop it in.

if you have an xps system, then your usb is usb 2.0
