hard disk spinning?

Hello,

I have a Compaq laptop. When I am downloading torrents and other large files and there are no other programs running, does my hard disk spin?

The power management software in Windows will shut the hard drive down after a certain period of inactivity if you have that option checked. It's probably after 15 minutes of nothing happening if you've never changed it.

Your hard disk always spins while the computer is powered on. Doesn't matter if your downloading or doing anything else...it's always running.
