The options I have are
1) HP Compaq Presario 6182
2.0ghz, Intel Core 2 Duo, 1gb ram , 80 GB,. DVD supermulti drive, blue tooth/wireless lan, 15.4 bright screen , 128 mb VGA sahred

Cost AED 4095

2) HP Pavillion 6189,
2.0 GHz, Intel Core 2 Duo, 1 GB ram, 120gb, GE force 256 MB VGA card, inbuilt camera, Bluetooth/ wireless lan, 15.4 bright screen, DVD supermulti drive

Cost AED 4835
My concern is the Shared VGA memory will do with softwares like MAYA or the dedicated GRforce 256 MB card is a must? Please post your opinions, this is a gift for my sister who intends to do a course in 3D animation.

Hi, Does anyone know what processor is equivalent to a pentium 4 processor, I have been looking for a pentium 4 laptop but cannot find any in pcworld or comet, they are all Intel Core Duo 2 or Intel Celeron Mobile. Thank you.

I currently have 512 megs of ram... I want to get 1 gig by adding 512 more (duh) but is it better to add 256x2 .. or 512x1?
My computer has 4 ram slots..

For these systems, you need to install modules in pairs for maximum performance, so if you’re going to be adding 512MB of memory, you are better off buying two 256MB modules, as opposed to one 512MB one. When i asked this question before, people said 512x1 ...

I have run virus scan and spyware scans, both of which came up clean. I set folder options to show hidden files.

Also, when I check the drive's properties, it still says 100gigs are in use, so the files seem to be still there, yet I cannot access or see them.

I am running Windows XP.

yes i put in my cd recovery disc to reinstall my windows xp i followed the options till i came to a screen showing me the three drives (c) (d) (e)...i deteted the ...( d ) (e) drives ....after i did that if nocked my capacity back up to the full 74 kb ...i installed a fresh copy of windows xp on the 74 kb partion then booted it up and then i aint got no sound on the new instalation setup .

I use Windows XP Home version. My compter is a laptop, not sure if that matters, it has been doing this for about a month now. A friend of mine told me to shut it down in Safe Mode to see if it stayed on during the night to rule out viruses as being the cause, it still turned off. I have shut if down in Stand By and it is still in that mode in the morning. I'm not really sure what is going on, it doesn't do it everyday, just totally random. Mostly when I am listening to music, watching a movie, but it has done it when I just loaded up MSN too. Once it shuts down and I restart it right away it usually shuts down once again before it totally starts up, it's like I have to give it a break before I can turn it back on once it shuts down on me. If anyone can help or knows any possibilities of why this is doing this I would love to hear something, I still have a warranty for about 1.5 yrs on it too. Thanks in advance.

is there anyway i can get these two drives back on my pc .because after i reinstaled my windows xp i clicked on where it says my computer to see what drives i have on my pc and theres only drive ( c ) on there ....plus i seemed to have lost my sound is this becuse i have deleted those two drives ...would reformatting the pc reset everything if so how would i go about doing that ...

I'm tied down to 3: the Sony Vaio VGN-N11M/W T2050 or the Dell Inspiron 1501 or 6400. I like the Vaio for the design, but the Dells seem to have the longer battery power. Any help or advice please?
