Go to "run" in the start menu and type chkdsk.exe and hit return.

Start > Run... > type "chkdsk.exe /f" and press enter. Remember the space between the e and /.

If you don't use the "/f" parameter it won't fix the problem, only find it.

It will ask you if you want to schedule a disk check the next time your pc is started, choose yes. Restart your computer.

chkdsk is a Dos command. With windows x-p you can check the disk for errors under C: right click, properties, left click, and tools.
