extra memory as in storage capacity? Yes. It will act like an extra-large floppy disk or CD-R, depending on the size of the key.
If you mean extra RAM, unfortunately, no.

a usb pen drive is a form of memory but it doesnt add to system memory that the pc utilizes .. its only storage and a way to move files around between machines.

they are small portable storage devices. They can hold files, but not enough tio use as a hard drive.
