There's two ways you can do it.
One way is to reformat the computer - when you boot from the Windows XP CD to reformat, you can divide the drive into 3 partitions then and just load Windows onto the C partition. Just don't make the C partition less than 10Gb or you will find that Windows and all it's updates won't fit! This is perhaps the better option as it starts everything off clean.
If, however, you don't want to reformat, try going to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Adminitrative Tools -> Computer Management and click on the "Disk Management" option on the left of the window that appears. You should be able to reduce the size of the C drive and then repartition the free space you have made into Drive D and E (you may have to rename and CD/DVD drives to F, G etc... before you do this, you can do that in the disk management pane too).
If that dosn't work, there's a program called Partition Magic that can. http://tinyurl.com/yytfa8

You probably had a partition on the drive "C" that had your restoration files in it and it is called drive "D". This is commonly referred to as Raid 0, which I don't like. If you have two hard drives it works the same. It sees both as one with that FAT32 partition with the restoration files. So far, most of the so called techs I have talked to at various computer stores and companies and they can't figure out how to format the hard drive and not lose everything. I have printed out over 170 pages of tech directions on this and they just contradict each other. One says if you use the system disk and do a Destructive Format, it will put the partition back in after completely wiping both drives clean. Two pages later it says the exact opposite, that a Destructive Format will wipe out everything and not put the partition back. This will cause the rest of your drives to change as they will move up by one or two letters. Contact your computer manafacturer and see if they have any techs that know how to get that straightened out and good luck.

First, it depends on the method you used to delete the drives.
If you have deleted partitions yourself then there is little chance of getting the drives back.
Otherwise the drives would be there if the partitions were not deleted.
Secondly, everytime after a fresh installation is performed, you need to install the drivers, programs that allow your hardware to operate.
for this you must know what HW you have. Then go to the manufacturer's website for downloading the appropriate driver.
Note: You are in a crucial stage of losing your data. Get in touch with someone who has experiene and can solve your problem.

restart your pc acouple of times, sometimes the window is glitchy, so the drive icons won't show. if you actually did delete your drives, then I don't know what to tell you other than you'll have to reinstall everything that was on the deleted drives

I don't know exactly what should be done. But I am sure of is that sound has no relation with deleting drives D and E. Sound configuration will be under drive C always.

If D: and E: are extremely actual drives then basically re-connect them. i trust they were walls. you may for sure re-partition your force yet in case you want the unique files restored to procure complications. the probability is that in case you do not overwrite them with new files they're going to be able to be recovered. try Norton unformat.
