Inkjet cartridges often tend to dry up. Dot-matrix is just so outdated with the loud noise it makes while printing. By far lazer printers have excellent performance because the ink contained is not fluid. It is solid and dry. The mechanism involves heating the powder and and using the nozzle to make a mark on the desired part of the paper, hence causing excellent precision. Thus, at least for domestic use, lazer printers are the best as one need not to worry about the ink drying up if not used often and regularly.

Why bother looking for spare parts when a new one might cost a few pounds more but will work and comes complete with guarantee, then you can keep the old one for spare parts.
