Any Pentium M 1.7Ghz or greater is more than equal to a non hyperthreading P4.

If it's not too much more expensive go for the Core2Duo ... you won't regret it.

Avoid the Celeron units like the plague.

in case you desire the technical specification to evaluate processors, there is a number of web pages that have this information. the a number of solutions till now mine have those web pages indexed for you. in case you desire the nitty-gritty, think of of the Pentium and the Celeron as autos. The Pentium is nearly a Cadillac SUV whilst in comparison with seeing the Celeron as cruddy distant places-made SUV. beneficial they the two look a similar and run a similar like all vehcile could. yet what's below the hood and the time-honored of motor vehicle is a complete difference.

a mobile Pentium 4 is equivalent to a Pentium 4, a celeron is Intel's budget processor, the same way a duron is athlons budget workhorse. avoid companies who bullshit in the adverts about HTT technology (cough PC world) avoid dells too. you want a laptop that can do the job you want it for on the budget you can afford. most of the laptop manufactures suck apart from Sony and Fuji. look into them before you throw your money away at a laptop from pc world or dell.

the processors closest to the pentium m is the intel solo core

(the pentium 4 is a desktop processor & was used in notebooks quite some time back, before the mobile processors came into being)

the celerons are slower, a core duo will match a pentium 4

I would suggest AMD Athlon XP Processor Model 10
with 256K L2 Cache.

they are all p4 or good than p4. if the cpu isn't core and is over the 1.3G then it is p4. because intel celeron mobile or intel mobile is all p4 if it is high than 1.3g.
