Take out your sound card, find the model and download the drivers for it. 1 question, before u deleted/reinstalled your windows do u recall installing any drivers for your sound card? And if u bought your PC from a store, all in one piece why don't u have the CD with Motherboard drivers?

You may be missing a driver for your sound card. Right click on My Computer and click properties. Go to the hardware tab and hit the device manager button. Expand the Sound Video and Game Controllers tab and double click on your sound card. Then click the drivers tab and try to update the drivers. ***If this does not work, you can go to your sound card provider's website to download a driver

you need to download the drivers for your soundcard check the pc makers website. search for your pc model number

I had the same thing happen to me 2 hrs of hair pulling and I remembered seeing Realtek w/ my volume control, speakers, etc. so I googled it and found Realtek AC97 that was the driver I needed.
Different makers use different ones.
If you tell me the make and model of your computer I'll help you find the sound card driver you need
