Drives : CD and DVD

Symptoms:
1) CD Drive's light lits up when I open it from the outside- the drive does open

3) My Computer doesnt show the drives at all
4) I checked the BIOS- I am not sure but I think its not detected by the BIOS either

We have a printer hooked up to a computer with a USB extension cable. We are having problems trying to attach other USB devices when this cable is in use (it works fine if we connect the printer without the cable.)

Is there something we can do? How about an extension hub (vs. just a cable?)

I have 2 memory slots - current setup is: 1 256mb card and 1 128mb memory card. I bought the following memory on Amazon: "Viking DL1325 512MB Unbuffered Non-ECC DDR266/PC2100 DIMM Memory" and installed it (along with the 256mb card in the 2nd slot). My PC only recognizes the 256mb card, even though the 512mb card is in the other slot. The Kingston site recommends this memory: "Kingston 512MB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 266 (PC 2100) System Specific Memory for Dell." Sounds a lot like the Viking memory I already bought. Did I buy the wrong memory, or am I missing something (perhaps I have to have 2 512mb cards at one time?). Thanks in advance for your help!

I have thousands of single-page documents that need to be scanned and archived electronically. I know there are some very expensive packages that use OCR and "zoning" to recognize the document's characterisitcs (vendor, account no., date, ...) and move it to the right folder. Is there a "cheap" solution that does the job, even using another system? Anything in the free open-source realm? Of course I have a decent scanner that can handle the "hard" part. Thanks a lot.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1150 with a 64 mb graphics card with shared memory. I'm not sure if it is built into the motherboard or not. Anyways, is there a way that I can upgrade the graphics card on it, or is my best bet upgrading the memory? Thanks.
