they are now, MAC's are just PC's that can do what a PC and a MAC can do. The hardware is Intel / PC based. So the real difference is now in the software and the design of the mac. MAC's look good and do what you want. They just work for you. Where as a PC will make you work for it.

I have a Mac, not a new one, but I love it. I am no longer forced to shut down due to hangs or resource problems and I love all of the software that comes with it. Dashboard, widgets, sherlock, iPhoto, encyclopedia, dictionary, appleworkds,

The Mac OS is the best.

Their customer service is rated #1. If you live near a decent size cities, most have at least one Apple store. You can get service done there, you can attend free classes and get questions answered and all by someone who speaks English.

Now the Macs are capable of running windows (not something I can see in my future, but I suppose some people might want that kind of pain).

Macs are definitely way out classing all of the other computers around in everyway.

BTW Macs are not for idiots, they are for people who have something better to do with their time. I know all of the answers from the person's above comments and I was writing operating systems while he was probably still in diapers. I just don't see why I should have to pay for additional aggravation in my life. I have more then enough.

Unlike others, i will point out the pros and cons of the MAC, and not give a simple answer. Personally, I prefer the PC

Pros:
Few System Exploits
Better video/music editing software
Cons:
Less software compatibility*
Lower cost MACs have less customization options
Costs are higher for MACS
Limited upgradecapabilities
*Note: Windows XP may be installed on the MACs

One motive why you may wish a Mac over a computing device is the utilizing, i.E. in case you do video/audio stuff then a Mac possibly good on condition that you get very last reduce Studio it really is only for Mac. in case you want to play computing device video games then a computing device is an greater decision, because the they look a lot extra cost-powerful and customizing your gaming computing device's hardware for your tastes. interior the end it truly is a controversy of individual decision... even with the undeniable fact that in case you want to dodge dropping funds purchase a computing device, they nonetheless can do an identical common stuff as a Mac may do.

Despite what tachikoma06 says, many people who are much more computer literate then he more then likely is use Macs every day, in fact they are the computer system of choice of the computer science programs of many of the top universities in the world.

Unix is under all the pretty GUI eye candy and is very accessible if you know how to use it, learn Unix and you'll be thousands of orders of magnitude more computer literate then your average Windows user could ever imagine possible. (yes I know you could just run Linux or BSD, but that eye candy sure is nice).

At this point in time no not really. Macs don't have viruses or spyware, which is really their only advantage over PCs. And even then, you can get spyware and virus protection and avoid those nasty things.

well lets see.

how computer literare are you?
-if u know how to use computers enough to answer these questions then i suggest u stay away from mac

what is an FTP?
how can i enable remote assistance?
how do i instal asian language fonts/input?

if you can awnser those questions then u have enuf literacy wher a mac would be pointless.(btw i noe how to do all those things so no worries im not askin another question in urs X_x)

truthfully macs are there to protect people from there own stupidity. its almost like saying stalin was good because he kept the russian people in order.

PC's are better for people who know wat they are doin and arent stupid enough to do the things that a mac would protect them from.

but you cant really say which one is the overall BETTER computer and anyone else who tells u otherwise is just a stupid fanboy whos ranting and raving about wat they use. its almost like comparing apples to oranges. well sure theyre both fruit but u cant rly compare them. its all personal

ehehe o btw sry i kinda let my own pc usage slip into my answer...:P
