someone from my broadband service told me to get rid of Internet Exployer 7 and call the Notebook manufacturer for the IE6?
Does anyone with computer tech knowledge know if this is the correct advise

From what I have seen in yahoo answers there are tons of problems with IE7! It would be the first thing I got rid of!

You know you got the typical response from a biased person that probably knows very little about fixing computer problems. Since IE7 is new 50% say it's crap and 50% say its not. How do you know the person you spoke with is a certified technician capable of making that assumption?

Now of course you did not provide any information as to if you installed IE7 or if it came preinstalled?

If you have Windows System Restore turned on you may be able to go back to a previous restore point.

There are several things that can cause your computer to freeze.

I also had this same problem with an HP laptop. It started right after I loaded up IE7. I never suspected it for quite some time, but the instant I got rid of it and loaded up Mozilla Firefox 2.0, problem solved.

No, not at all!

IE7 is more stable than IE6, and has more (optional!) security features. (Although some security features, when activited, will slow down surfing...because they double check urls with DBs...but you can easily turn that stuff off.)

Frankly, a lot of computer users (particularly ISP tech service and people who go to Yahoo Answers) are too computer ignorant and scared of change, and are too quick to blame something new instead of trying to change the settings.

Backing up any very own information and then wiping it relatively is in all probability the terrific element of do. If a sparkling reinstall from the restoration disks does not fix it then it would be a hardware subject (in all probability overheating) besides the shown fact that that's in all probability extremely malware.
